Functions:
- Servicing existing and potential customers by determining their needs, securing offers on products they require, and creating sales opportunities.
- Servicing existing and potential suppliers by finding sales opportunities for their products.
- Develops new markets, customers, suppliers, and products that are targeted by the trading team.
- Remains up to date with industry trends and competition in the marketplace through ongoing contact with suppliers, customers, and trade associations, reading trade journals and attending trade seminars.
- Travels to international and domestic customer and supplier locations to improve and/or establish business relationships.
- Receives customers and suppliers in Atlanta.
- Remains knowledgeable and assists in developing and creating USDA and foreign governments? veterinary regulations and export/import protocols including labeling restrictions.
- Assists in the coordination of shipments to expedite the process.
- communicates necessary documentation required by the customer to the Logistics and Documentation personnel to facilitate profitable, timely and accurate shipment of orders.
- Monitors trucking/shipping requirements and rates, and apprises Logistics department personnel of potential needs for execution of upcoming contracts.
- Accounting/Risk Management:
- Maintain control of the A/R of all customers to ensure proper level of funds and timely payments.
- Thorough study of each individual sale to capture the best return on investment given the credit limit each customer may have.
Job Requirements:
Education
College degree in international business (including economics and finance) and/or marketing preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in international sales and marketing in lieu of degree.
Knowledge/Skills/Licenses
- Understanding of international finance, marketing, logistics and cultural aspects of dealing with customers from foreign countries
- Knowledge of poultry, beef and pork products, marketing, and processing applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Mathematical ability
- Problem-solving ability
- Fluency in a second language preferred
Decision Making
- Negotiates with customers and suppliers with Managing Directors? / Risk Manager?s assistance when irregular contract terms are requested.
- Determines necessity of travel based on impact for future profit potential.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills.
- Exhibits good judgment and discretion and confidentiality.
- Understands that mistakes, poor planning and lack of anticipation may result in the loss of customers, sales/profits and market opportunities.
