As a Junior Financial Crimes Investigator, you will support the analysis of cases associated with fraud and Know Your Customer (KYC) policies and procedures. You will assist in developing and supporting fraud investigation activities to help maintain trust in the platform, while learning and growing under the guidance of the team.
Key Responsibilities
Review dispositions from front-line agents regarding potential bad actors and verify the accuracy of previous research.
Conduct basic risk evaluations of escalated cases and close them or escalate them further to Compliance Officers depending on risk relevancy.
Utilize global legal and cybersecurity platforms to support user identification checks and flag additional debit/credit card fraud indicators.
Clearly define decision narratives and rationales, highlighting red flags identified during the investigation.
Conduct entry-level investigative and intelligence research on individuals, entities, and/or events related to current or prospective customers through public records, open-source intelligence (OSINT), vendor systems, or other research tools.
Thoroughly review investigative and intelligence information pertaining to customer identification, business operations, KYC information, and transaction history.
Proactively suggest updates to policies and procedures and assist in drafting new guidelines as needed.
Identify trends in recurring fraud violations and inquiries, working closely with teammates and cross-functional partners to support internal procedures and training materials.
Develop knowledge of criminal methods and AML typologies, applying it to analyze transaction data and spot unusual activity.
Participate in ad-hoc projects and reviews, including supporting inquiries from regulators and compliance-related matters.
Assist in using data visualization tools to highlight risks to sensitive business practices and support financial investigation workflows.
Requirements
Fluency in English (B2 level).
Minimum 6 months of experience in financial crimes, compliance, fraud prevention, or related roles.
Flexible schedule.
Works well under pressure and within time constraints.
Foundational investigative skills and an analytical mindset, including problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Experience in Financial Law Enforcement, Fraud, AML Compliance, or a similar discipline, with basic exposure to anti-money laundering, financial crimes, sanctions screening, and KYC.
